Ordering by Nominal Size Assuming It's the Actual Delivered Dimension
A nominal 2x4 delivers at roughly 1.5 x 3.5 inches, not 2 x 4 — designing tight tolerances around the nominal number instead of the actual dressed size is a common and avoidable measurement error.
