TryBuildCalc is a free online platform of construction calculators and knowledge guides built for engineers, contractors, homeowners, and students across India and beyond.

Construction calculations are done repeatedly on every project — cement bags for a plaster coat, aggregate quantity for a footing, steel weight from a bar bending schedule, tiles for a diagonal floor layout. These calculations are simple in principle but easy to get wrong under site pressure, especially when using thumb rules instead of verified formulas. TryBuildCalc was built to make the correct calculation available in seconds, on any device, from the site.

The platform covers structural, material, finishing, earthwork, and plumbing calculations — with references to Indian Standards (IS codes) where applicable, with support for international standards (ASTM, BS EN) for users outside India. Every calculator includes a verification checklist and worked examples so users understand what the numbers mean, not just what they are.

Who we are

TryBuildCalc is built and maintained from Hyderabad, India. The content is developed with reference to IS 456, IS 383, SP 34, IS 2250, and other BIS standards, and is reviewed for accuracy before publication.

How our calculators are prepared

Each calculator is built around a clear formula, tested with sample inputs, and supported with worked examples wherever possible. We try to explain the calculation method so users can understand how the result is produced, not just copy the final number. Default material densities, wastage percentages, and practical assumptions are provided for planning convenience, but users should replace them with project-specific values, supplier data, drawings, or engineer-approved specifications where available.
