Drip Irrigation Line & Emitter Calculator Verification Checklist
π Last updated: September 26, 2026
Essential Checklist+β
Complete these critical checks before approving the work or proceeding to the next construction stage.
β8 Inspection Points
β4 Verification Categories
βPlanning & Water Supply+-
- The system's total flow is checked against the actual water source before buying anything
- Static water pressure is confirmed to suit drip components
βMaterials & Fittings+-
- Tubing and fittings are UV-rated for outdoor/above-ground use
- A backflow preventer (vacuum breaker) is installed at the water source
- The filter is matched to the water source, not skipped
βLaying Out & Installing+-
- Tubing is flushed with the end open before installing emitters and end caps
- Emitters are placed at the plant's actual root zone / drip line, not against the stem or trunk
βTesting & Aftercare+-
- The whole system is pressure-tested and visually checked for leaks before covering with mulch
Full QC Checklist+β
Verify planning and water supply, materials and fittings selection, laying out and installing, and testing and aftercare.
β20 Inspection Points
β4 Verification Categories
βPlanning & Water Supply+-
- The system's total flow is checked against the actual water source before buying anything
- Static water pressure is confirmed to suit drip components
- The layout (row spacing or per-plant emitter count) actually matches the plants being watered
- Plants with very different water needs are split into separate zones or runs, not lumped together
- Soil type is factored into emitter spacing, not just plant type
βMaterials & Fittings+-
- Tubing and fittings are UV-rated for outdoor/above-ground use
- A backflow preventer (vacuum breaker) is installed at the water source
- The filter is matched to the water source, not skipped
- A few spare couplings, tees and end caps are ordered beyond the calculated count
- Tubing diameter matches the fittings and emitters actually purchased
βLaying Out & Installing+-
- Tubing is flushed with the end open before installing emitters and end caps
- Emitters are placed at the plant's actual root zone / drip line, not against the stem or trunk
- Tubing is staked down securely, especially at every corner/turn
- Tubing crossing paths, driveways, or mowed areas is protected or buried
- Mainline-to-lateral tee connections are fully seated and clamped if required
βTesting & Aftercare+-
- The whole system is pressure-tested and visually checked for leaks before covering with mulch
- Emitter output is spot-checked at the near and far ends of each run
- Mulch is applied over (not blocking) the emitters, and kept clear of stems
- A regular filter-cleaning and emitter-inspection schedule is set, not left to "until something looks wrong"
- The system is planned for winterization/blow-out in a freezing climate
