  • Property line, easement, and any local setback requirement confirmed before finalizing the driveway footprint

  • Local frost depth considered for base thickness in cold climates
  • Wet or soft spots in the subgrade over-excavated and undercut (with extra aggregate backfill) before fabric placement, not just compacted as-is
  • Geotextile fabric strength/rating confirmed matches the actual soil bearing conditions, not a generic light-duty fabric used on soft or wet soil
βœ“Base, Bedding Sand & Paver Construction+
  • Aggregate base compacted in 2 in lifts (not dumped and left loose), typically to at least 95% of maximum dry density
  • Bedding sand screeded level and left LOOSE β€” not compacted before pavers are laid
  • Actual paver count and border-cut plan confirmed against the chosen layout pattern before ordering, especially for herringbone patterns
  • Paver product confirmed by the manufacturer as rated for vehicular/driveway use, not just visually similar to a driveway-grade unit
  • Compaction equipment (plate compactor rated for paver work) sized to the actual base area and paver surface, not a hand tamper
βœ“Jointing, Edge Restraint & Maintenance+
  • Edge restraint installed around the full perimeter BEFORE joint sand is swept in and compacted
  • Joint sand filled and DRY-compacted in repeated fill/compact cycles until every joint is fully packed β€” not wetted between passes
  • ALL excess joint sand swept/blown completely off the paver surface, and joints confirmed fully dry-packed, BEFORE water activation begins
  • Periodic maintenance (joint sand top-up, sealing if desired, weed control) planned for, not treated as a one-time installation
  • Edge restraint spikes/anchors confirmed driven into stable base or subgrade material, not just into loose bedding sand
